Calculating Sick Days Off Balance Starting From The First Request 


We are excited to announce the release of a new feature in our Time Off Module which is the ability to “calculate sick days off balance starting from the first request”. This feature allows employees to start their sick day off balance from the date of their first sick day off request rather than from the beginning of the year.

This feature provides greater flexibility and fairness for employees who may not need to use their sick day off balance until later in the year. Employees can now better manage their sick days off and plan their time off more effectively. 

  • Sick day off balances will be calculated as usual, from the hiring date or the beginning of the year until an employee's first sick day off request is made.

  • After the first request is made, the balance will be recalculated to start from the request date up to a year from that date. 

  • This feature only applies to sick day off requests and does not apply to any other time off requests.

How to Use This Feature


System Preferences → Time Setup → Leaves & Vacations → Sick Days Off


First, you need to add a new sick day off type. On the Sick Days Off page, click the “Add Sick Day Off” button at the top of the page.  Then fill out all the necessary fields, and under Balance type, select “Start On The First Request”.

Note: If you created a “Start On The First Request” Balance Type, you will not be able to change the balance type to “Contractual” or “Normal”.  

View Employee Balances 


Employees → Employees Affairs → Employee Management 


On the Employee Management page, select the employee you want to see the balances of. Then on the employee’s profile, click the “Time Off Setup” tab.

On the table, beside the desired Time Off Type, click “Show Balance”.

You will then be able to view the details of the employee's balance for the selected time off type. 

The balance, by default, will start from the employee’s hiring date until the end of the year. 

But once a request is made for the first time on this balance type, the system will automatically    recalculate the balance Start Date based on the requested date and will be available for a year from that date.
