Approval Override on the ZenHR Mobile App

The Approval Override feature allows managers and administrators to step in and approve employee requests on behalf of the assigned approver when necessary. This is especially useful in urgent situations where the standard approval process might cause delays. With this feature, an authorized override can ensure that approvals don’t get stuck due to an unavailable approver, enabling faster decision-making directly from the mobile app.

How to Use Approval Override

A new section named Approval Override has been added under the My Actions section on the dashboard.

This section is only visible to admins with permissions that allow them to approve pending transactions. Other users will not see this section.

To override an approval request, follow these steps:

  1. Open the ZenHR Mobile App and log in.

  2. Navigate to the Dashboard to the My Actions section

  3. Select Approval Override (only visible to users with certain permissions).

  1. Here you’ll find pending requests that need approval.

  2. Click on the “View approval cycle” to view details.

  1. Here you can see the details of the request. Click on “Take action” under the approver, you can override.

  2. Then Approve or Reject the request.

The override action will be displayed in the Approval Cycle section within the transaction details. It will be displayed that someone has approved or rejected a request on behalf of the original approver. And a record of the override action will be logged in the system.

Types of Approvals That Can Be Overridden

The Approval Override feature allows admins to handle and override the following types of approval requests:

  • Time Off Requests

  • Missing Punch Requests

  • Financial Transaction Requests

  • Air Ticket Requests

  • Loan Requests

  • Overtime Requests

  • Business Trip Requests

  • Miscellaneous Requests

  • Employee Suspension & Resumption Requests

Notifications

Once an approval has been overridden:

  • The employee who submitted the request will receive a push notification and an email informing them of the action.

  • The original approver will also be notified about the request being approved or rejected on behalf of them.
